Jamestown Concert Association Event Set For Sunday
The Jamestown Concert Association will present Ars Nova Musicians Chamber Orchestra for the opening concert of the 2013-14 season. Artistic Director Marylouise Nanna, will be conducting and Paul Schlossman will be oboe soloist. The concert will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 410 N. Main St., Jamestown.
Recognized for their “inventive programming, musical finesse, sense of style, and warm full-bodied textures,” Ars Nova Musicians have been selected frequently among the Buffalo News year-end Critic’s Choice reviews. They have performed in Carnegie Recital Hall, where they garnered praise from the New York Times; earned Peabody Award nominations for their PBS-TV specials; and have critically acclaimed CD recordings. Maestra Marylouise Nanna received the Presidential Medal from Marywood University, was inducted into the Western New York Women’s Hall of Fame and the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame and was also recognized by the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
The orchestra will be performing music from Elgar, Cimarose, Sibelius and Grieg.
Tickets for this concert are $20 adult and $17 senior with a $2 discount for tickets purchased in advance. College students are $7.50 and students 18 and under are admitted free with a paid adult. Other concerts in the season include: Cleveland International Piano Competition winner Marina Lomazov on Nov. 1; Symphoria (formerly Syracuse Symphony) performing a Holiday Pops Concert with Sean O’Laughlin, conductor, and Tish Oney, vocalist on Dec. 4; Poulenc Trio, bassoon, oboe and pianist on March 14; Symphoria with Juan LaManna, Conductor and Tianwa Yang, Violin Soloist on April 10 and the Brass-hoppers, trombone, trumpet and Pianist on May 16. JCA season members can also attend four additional concerts at the Library Theater due to a reciprocal agreement with the Warren Concert Association.
