Fly To Learn Program Offered To Area Schools

The Lucille M. Wright Air Museum has been appointed the Fly to Learn program coordinator for Chautauqua County schools.

Fly to Learn is the educational component that uses X-Plane software by Laminar Research to provide virtual flight simulation for school computer labs to teach science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education in the classroom.

This inquiry-based STEM program excites and challenges students through designing, building and flying their own virtual airplanes. Students learn best when the material is captivating and exciting. The X-Plane software can be uploaded to the computer lab server, so it is available to students whenever they want to fly and work on curriculum lessons by logging in on the same computer.

Flight simulators at the museum are available for students to fly and continue their curriculum during non-school hours from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. School instructors are taught Fly to Learn through museum instructors on-site or Fly to Learn instructors online through webinars.
