Man Charged With Criminal Use Of A Firearm In City Limits

A Jamestown man allegedly fired a pump-action shotgun in the city on Saturday at 3:22 a.m.

George W. Edington III, 24, of Jamestown was charged with three counts of second-degree menacing, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree criminal use of a firearm and firing a firearm within city limits.

Officers of the Third Platoon of the Jamestown Police Department responded to Hopkins Avenue for a report of a person with a weapon. Edington allegedly used the pump-action shotgun to menace three separate victims during an altercation, police said. Nobody was injured in the incident.

Jamestown Police Captain Robert Samuelson said every once in awhile incidents such as this one occur. He said not only is it a danger to the officer, but the suspect as well as everyone involved.

Edington was taken into custody without incident and transported to Jamestown City Jail where he was awaiting arraignment by Jamestown City Court.
