Cemetery Needs To Be Cleaned
The Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg, announced that all flowers and pots must be removed by Saturday and if not removed by that time will be put in the trash. Wreaths are allowed from Saturday through the winter season.
Frewsburg Reunion Set
The Frewsburg Central School Class of 1963 will hold a 50th reunion at 5 p.m. on Friday at the Frewsburg American Legion. Casual Gathering Is Wednesday
Christ First United Methodist Church, Buffalo Street and Lakeview Avenue, Jamestown, will introduce ”Life,” a casual gathering with music, questions, biblical background, honest conversation, and prayer with coffee and a greeting at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Darrah Hall. Music will begin at 7 p.m. and the gathering at 8 p.m. For more information, call 664-5803.
DOC Ranger To Speak Thursday
MAYVILLE – David L. Pachan, a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation forest ranger, will be the guest speaker when Mayville Senior Citizens meet on Thursday. Joyce Ayers, president, welcomed seniors attending a recent meeting and chicken barbecue held in the Veterans of Foreign Wars dining room. She also led the flag salute. Mary Carlson called table numbers. Reports by the secretary and treasurer were accepted as read. Sandy Anderson, tour director, stated seats were still available the Oct. 7 trip. A board meeting followed.
Winter Clothes Now Available
St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, announces more winter clothing arrived this week. There is a large selection of winter clothing including sweaters and jackets for men, women including junior and plus sizes, and children. Small household items and jewelry are also available. All items are in good, clean condition. Fall hours for sales and receiving are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; receiving only is on Tuesday 9 a.m. to noon. Off-street parking is available in the church parking lot off East Fifth Street. This is a nonprofit enterprise with all proceeds going to local outreach, and has been in operation for 31 years. The shop is staffed with local volunteers including many from RSVP.
The Marco Polo Auxiliary will meet for a tureen supper on Wednesday. Committee members are Dorothy Galati, Marian DiGregorio and Mary Volpe. Members attending should take a dish to pass. If not able to attend, contact a committee member. Jay Carlo and Frances Lunetta hosted a recent pizza party. Mary Racitano, president, presided at the meeting. Reports by Frances Lunetta, secretary, and Ms. Galati, treasurer, were given. A vote was taken to keep current officers for another year. Discussion was on the continuation to bake for the monthly spaghetti dinners. Celebrating birthdays were Marian DiGregorio and Rita Ellis.
