Fall Cleanup Set For October 7

Lake View Cemetery will begin its annual Fall Cleanup on Monday, Oct. 7. Any decorations not removed by that date will be disposed of by cemetery personnel. The cemetery will also begin its winter hours in October, with the gates closing at 4:30 p.m.

‘Meeting Of The Minds’ Is Tuesday

The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation will host a meet and greet with a few of Chautauqua County’s newest leaders including: Michael Abbate, Cummins Inc. plant manager; Dr. Cory Duckworth, Jamestown Community College president; Gregory Edwards, Gebbie Foundation chief executive officer; Dr. Virginia Horvath, SUNY Fredonia president; Jim Johnson, Robert H. Jackson Center president; Benjamin Lindquist, Chautauqua Striders executive director; Greg Lindquist, Jamestown Renaissance Corporation executive director; Tim Mains, Jamestown Public Schools superintendent and Andrew Robson, Cummins Inc. financial controller. The event will be held at the Jackson Center on Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. It is free and open to the public. Reservations are not needed and light refreshments will be served.

Food Truck To Stop In Ashville

ASHVILLE – The Western NY Food Express Truck out of Buffalo will be at the Ashville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, from noon-1:30 and reopens 3:30-5 p.m. There is no charge for the fresh produce or other items that will be available. The WNY Food Bank supplies many areas in WNY with express trucks and for this site you need to show proof of address that you reside at one of the following ZIP codes: Ashville 14710, Bemus Point 14712, Celoron 14720, Lakewood 14750, Niobe 14758, Panama 14767 and Stow 14785. Opportunities To Discuss VA Laws

Steve McCord, director of Cattaraugus County Veterans Services, or Kevin Haynes, security officer, will be available to discuss VA benefit laws, the healthcare system and take questions several times in October. The dates and times include: Oct. 3 at the Gowanda American Legion, 10 a.m. to noon; Oct. 9 at the Randolph American Legion, 10 a.m. to noon; Oct. 11 at The Pines, Machias, from 1-4 p.m.; and the town clerk’s office, Franklinville, on Oct. 15 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. McCord is available Thursday afternoons from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Little Valley Cattaraugus County Office building.

Arts And Crafts Show Is Saturday

HARTFIELD – The Hartfield Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary’s Christmas Arts and Crafts in October event will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hartfield Volunteer Fire Company, Elmwood Road, Hartfield. Food and drinks will be available. Giveaways will take place.

Fiber Conference Set For Oct. 12

The Eastern Great Lakes Fiber Conference is coming to Chautauqua Institution on Saturday, Oct. 12, from noon to 8 p.m. There will be dyed and painted yarns; alpaca and wool fleece and rovings; spinning, knitting and weaving supplies, books, kits and accessories.
