Rizzo-Walker’s Goal Lifts JHS

Thanks to Karee Rizzo-Walker, Jamestown captured its first Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 boys soccer victory Wednesday afternoon.

Rizzo-Walker got his first goal of the season on an assist from Bronson Edwards with 24:14 left in the first half to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 win over West Seneca West.

The victory improved Jamestown to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in the division. West Seneca West, meanwhile, fell to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in the league.

Liam Kulakowski made four saves for Jamestown and Joe Ingrao had six saves for West Seneca.

”We controlled the game and had more chances to score,” said Jamestown coach Andrew Pihlblad.

The Jamestown jayvees lost, 4-2.

On Saturday, Jamestown plays Southwestern in its homecoming game at 1 p.m. at the Martin Road Complex.




FALCONER – Drew Beckerink’s two goals led Falconer to a 2-0 win over Fredonia in West Division boys soccer on Wednesday.

Justin Olson assisted on both goals with Beckerink’s first at 16 minutes of the first half and the second at 17 minutes of the second half.

Trevor Dykstra recorded the shutout in goal for Falconer.


WESTFIELD – Southwestern remained undefeated overall (7-0-2) by toppling Westfield-Brocton (3-2), 5-1.

The Trojans scored three goals in the first half for a 3-0 lead as Sebastian Diaz tallied from Tristan Desnerck, Tanner Hoose from Nick Cooper and Mason Hoose unassisted.

In the second half, Westfield-Brocton got on the scoreboard with Dylan Robertson tallying an unassisted goal.

Desnerck recorded the final two goals for Southwestern with his first from Cooper and his second unassisted.

Eric Priester made four saves for the winners and Ty Bentham had 12 saves in defeat.


MAYVILLE – Gianni DeJesus was the hero for Dunkirk as he converted a pass from Chris Miccalski at the 30-minute mark of the first half and the Marauders made it stand up in a 1-0 win over Chautauqua Lake.

Tyler Kubasik picked up the shutout for Dunkirk by making nine saves.

James Latimer was in goal for the Thunderbirds and made 11 saves.

The win lifted Dunkirk to 1-4 in the league and 1-5-1 overall while Chautauqua Lake dipped to 0-4-1 in the league and 1-4-1 overall.



WEST VALLEY – Derek Smith and Brandon Callender scored two goals each as Frewsburg downed West Valley, 4-1.

Both Smith and Callender scored a goal in each half for the Bears. Callender also added three assists in the victory.

Emil Erlandson scored an unassisted goal for West Valley in the first half to tie the game, 1-1, but Frewsburg scored the final three goals.

Jordan Lyon picked up the win by making 15 saves while Jon Zimmer made 20 saves for WV, now 3-2-1 in the league and 4-3 overall.
