New Local Music
Every year, for the past 10 years, area residents have enjoyed a showcase of local music during Infinity Performing Arts’ annual “Local Music Showcase,” and this year’s event topped it off by hosting more than 40 acts at 10 venues.
I was, of course, most impressed, and I think most would agree, by two acts in particular, both of which are involved with Infinity itself – SYMBA and Oliver Burdo.
SYMBA, which features locals Ryan Hawkins and Hayley Restivo, played for more than an hour at the Infinity Arts Cafe. During the show, the duo announced that they’d be releasing a full-length album in November, and they stuck to that announcement.
SYMBA’s debut full-length album, “Eleanor Evermore,” will be released during a party at the Infinity Arts Cafe on Friday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m. The show is free for all ages, and will also feature special guests Caelan Register, Josh Rueter and Zac Ricker.
For more information, search for “SYMBA” on Facebook.
Oliver Burdo, who I’ve seen perform several times now, at venues such as the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, the Local Music Showcase and at Night Lights At the Heron, recently sent me a message via Facebook, informing me that he’s working on a new project, entitled ZOO. Burdo has four tunes available that were recorded at The Spire Theater, on Bandcamp, and they’re definitely worth a listen. Check them out at www.zephyroveroz.bandcamp.com.
