JHS Reunion Lunch Set

The Jamestown High School Class of 1944 reunion lunch will be held at noon on Oct. 4 in the Moonbrook Country Club. All members of the class are urged to attend. Discussion will be held on the 70th reunion in 2014. Reservations are required; contact Sally Bootey at 763-4605 before Friday.

Sailing Benefit

CELORON – Ready About Sailing and Marina is holding a raffle to win a 2012 Hobie Revolution Kayak to benefit a child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In August, Kallie Swan, the 21-month-old daughter of Shane and Tara Swan, was diagnosed with the disease. To raise money for the Swan family, raffle tickets are being sold for $20 to win the kayak, which is valued at $1,749. The drawing will be held Oct. 5, and the winner doesn’t need to be present during the drawing to win. Planning Board To Meet Thursday

LITTLE VALLEY – The Cattaraugus County Planning Board meeting will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the large committee room on the third floor of the Cattaraugus County Center, 303 Court St., Little Valley. The public is welcome to attend.

Thule Lodge To Meet Thursday

BEMUS POINT – The Thule Lodge, located at 4123 Pancake Hill Road, will hold its monthly meeting Thursday evening at the lodge at 7 p.m. All members are urged to attend to help with planning of events for the fall season. Refreshments will be served following the meeting. Dues for 2014 are now being collected. Thule Lodge serves to preserve the Swedish heritage through events and activities. New members are always welcome.

Community Meal Set For Saturday

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Community Church, 25 Maple Ave., Cassadaga, will hold a community dinner and movie beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday. The movie is ”Chasing Mavericks.”

Chicken Barbecue Set For Saturday

FALCONER – The Kiwanis Club of Falconer is having a chicken barbecue Saturday at the Falconer Moose Lodge from 5-7 p.m. Ticket cost is $8. Dinners will be available at the door while supplies last. The proceeds will go to Kiwanis Service Leadership programs at Falconer Central School. Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. Kiwanis and its youth-oriented Service Leadership Programs serve communities in more than 80 countries and geographic areas. New members are always welcome. Cleanup Set

For Weekend

The Cherry Creek Fall Cleanup will be held Friday and Saturday. Dumpsters will be provided at the town barn on Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. There will be no curbside pickups, asbestos or household garbage. Batteries, freezers, refrigerators and air conditioners will be accepted at no charge. Paint cans will be accepted only if the lid is off and the paint inside is completely dried. Metals must be separated from other trash or the load will be rejected. No tires will be accepted.
