Lady Cougars Top Maple Grove For First Volleyball Victory

Cassadaga Valley won for the first time this season in West Division 2 girls volleyball (1-3) by recording a 25-14, 23-25, 25-15 and 25-19 victory over Maple Grove on Thursday.

Hope Zielinski had three aces, four kills and a block; Christine Seibert recorded 10 aces, three kills and four digs; and Alyssa Hahn six aces, four assists and a dig for the Lady Cougars.

Also for CV, which is 1-7 overall, Kodie Hoyt recorded four aces, an assist and four digs; and Heather Dorler had two aces, three kills and five digs.

Nicole Hemminger led Maple Grove (0-4, 0-5) with four aces and four kills; Paige Hammond had two aces, three kills and three digs; Sierra Sperenza recorded two aces, a kill and two digs; Maddy Russo had two aces and three kills; and Jazmine Hannold had five aces and four assists.


PANAMA – Led by Brittany Lenart and Karly Abbate, Panama (3-1, 4-3) swept Sherman (2-2, 2-2), 25-21, 25-12, 27-25.

Lenart scored 12 points, 10 kills, two blocks and six aces while Abbate tallied 11 points, seven assists, five aces and a dig for Panama.

Taylor Bowen aided the winning cause with nine assists, four points, two aces and a kill; Kalli Davenport had nine points, two kills and two assists; and Ally Strickland recorded seven points, an ace and two digs.

For Sherman, Natalie Houle had a kill and two aces; Katrina Christmas picked up four blocks and two kills; Bridget Yaw had three kills, two blocks and five digs; and Cadi Hannold had three blocks and six assists.

Panama took the jayvee match 25-6 and 25-4.


MAYVILLE – Chautauqua Lake (5-0, 4-0) defeated Clymer (2-3, 2-2) 25-14, 25-10, 25-15.

Ashton Albanesius had six kills, six aces, seven digs, two assists and one block to lead the Lady Thunderbirds. Katie Meadows had four kills, four aces and five assists; Tara Hunt had three kills, two aces, eight digs and six assists; Ryleigh Hawkins recorded three kills, one ace, four dig and three blocks; Heather Sampson had two kills, two aces, one dig and two assists; and Kalishia Swoger had two kills, one dig and one assist.

For Clymer, Christy Reinwald had two kills and four digs, Breanna Summers had four points, and Amanda Einink had six digs.

Chautauqua Lake also won the junior varsity match.
