Steele Leads Way In Falconer Win

MAYVILLE – Emma Steele scored two goals to lead undefeated Falconer (4-0, 5-0-1) to a 4-0 victory over Chautauqua Lake in West Division girls soccer on Thursday afternoon.

Steele scored from Amber Micek at 15 minutes of the first half and from Kelly Keefe at 9:35 of the second half. The two goals gave Steele a team-leading nine.

Keefe tallied the first goal from Rhea Moore at 7:30 of the opening half and Andrea Volk recorded a goal from Randi Greene at 32:38 of the second half.

Keefe has three goals and Volk six for the season.

Macey Mays picked up the shutout with just two saves while Rachael Fortney made 16 saves in defeat.

MAPLE GROVE ROLLS

The first girls soccer meeting in some time between Maple Grove and Dunkirk turned out to be a lopsided 9-1 decision for the host Lady Red Dragons.

Emma Franczak and Alison Winchester scored twice to lead the way for Maple Grove (4-1, 4-1).

Winchester scored from Emily Swanson at four minutes followed by Franczak from Winchester at six minutes and Franczak again at seven minutes from Lindsay Walters. Franczak leads the team with six goals this fall.

Thirty seconds later Winchester tallied her second goal from Swanson and Katie Braund tallied from Olivia Richardson at nine minutes for MG.

Kelsey Slate averted the shutout for Dunkirk (0-3, 1-5) on an assist from Amanda Michalski at 18 minutes.

Maple Grove added four goals in the second half.

Richardson recorded a goal from Sarah Pardue at four minutes, Swanson from Franczak at 21 minutes, Alexis Hallberg from Richardson at 25 minutes and Allison Hendricks from Richardson at 35 minutes.

Brianne Davis made only two saves for Maple Grove while Amiee Kaufman had six saves for Dunkirk.
