Lakewood Board To Meet Today

LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Village Board will meet today at 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Anthony C. Caprino Municipal Building, 20 W. Summit St., Lakewood. Discussion will center on a special-use permit requested by William McFadden, LUV Toyota owner, who wants to build a quik lube and car wash east of Tractor Supply on East Fairmount Avenue. The public is invited to attend.

Elks To Hold Sunday Dinner

Jamestown Elks Lodge 263 will host a spaghetti dinner on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the lodge at 339 E. Fourth St. in Jamestown. The proceeds will benefit the Elks Local Scholarship Fund. Tickets are $8 for adults and children under 12 are admitted free and there will also be a Chinese auction. Since 2002 the lodge has awarded more than $40,000 in college scholarships to children of the members.

Lost Sheep Found In Busti

On Friday, a male sheep was found wandering in the Town of Busti Park. The sheep was captured, and the Lakewood-Busti Police Department has been unable to locate the owner. Contact the department at 763-9563 if you are the owner or know of someone who has lost their sheep.

Ellicott Seniors To Meet Today

Celoron-West Ellicott Seniors will meet at noon today in the Herman Kent Legion post. Members attending should take a tureen to share and their table service. Sally Thompson, Joyce Bracey and Jeanne Sampson are the committee. Forty seniors attended a recent catered chicken barbecue in the Lakewood Rod and Gun pavilion. Committee reports were approved. Ms. Sampson and Barb Orlander conducted games. The meeting closed with song.

Food Pantry

To Hold Dinner

ELLINGTON – The Ellington Community Food Pantry will host a spaghetti dinner from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Ellington Fire Hall to help raise money for the purchase of food and help with operating costs. Pre-sale tickets are available from any of the pantry volunteers or at the pantry during operating hours from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday and Friday. Tickets will also be available at the door. Beach Sweep Set For Saturday

WESTFIELD – Volunteers of all ages are needed to take part in the 28th annual Great Lakes Beach Sweep on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon as part of the International Coastal Cleanup. Volunteers will meet at Woodlawn State Park in Westfield and a picnic will be provided for all volunteers. For more information, contact Sharen Trembath, Lake Erie coordinator, at 549-4330.

Set For Saturday

CHERRY CREEK – The Cherry Creek/Leon United Methodist Church will hold a swiss steak dinner Saturday beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the church, Main Street, Cherry Creek. Dinner is $10 for adults and $6 for children. Family pricing is available. The meal includes beverage and homemade desserts.
