BROCKPORT – The Jamestown Lakers opened the season with a 7-1 victory over the Niagara Junior Purple Eagles in the Break-The-Ice Tournament.

Lucian Talbett, Declan Brown and Zechariah Padd scored two goals each, Michael Gerace added a goal, Brown added three assists, Brendan Hirliman had two assists and Gerace, Evan Bishop and Cooper Bergman all contributed one assist.

Jack Yost earned the win in goal for the Lakers.

On Saturday, the Lakers topped the Rochester Youth Hockey Americans, 10-2.

Brendan Hirliman was a one-man scoring machine, netting seven goals and two assists while Zechariah Padd, Declan Brown and Trenton Shutters all added solo goals.

Lucian Talbett and Brown each added five assists and Devon Wolfe, Padd, Cooper Bergman all had single assists.

Yost again was the winning goalie for the Lakers.

The Lakers ended up on the losing side Sunday, falling to the Tri-County Eagles, 5-2, but still earned a spot in the championship game.

Devin Wolfe scored the first goal for the Lakers, followed by Brendan Hirliman’s off an assist by Declan Brown.

Later on, the Lakers met the Purple Eagles again and fell 3-1 in the title game with Zechariah Padd scoring Jamestown’s only goal.

Trenton Stutters and Cooper Bergaman earned assists and Yost kept each game close while working the net.
