Lady Trojans Battle Back To Win

PANAMA – Panama (1-1, 2-3) got a quick jump on Southwestern, but the Lady Trojans battled back to earn a hard-fought 3-2 win in non-league girls volleyball on Monday.

The Panthers posted two wins early, 25-19 and 25-22, but the Lady Trojans ran off three straight victories, 25-20, 25-18 and 25-16.

Sally Rudny had seven aces and 21 kills for Southwestern, Kara Schutte added six aces, two kills and 18 assists, Maddy Alexander had three aces, four kills, 18 assists and eight digs and Carlie Carlson delivered three aces, six kills and nine digs.

For Panama, Carly Abbate connected for four aces, 11 kills, 16 assists, six digs and 16 points, Brittany Lenart had 11 kills, four blocks, three digs, five points and one ace, Taylor Bowen had an ace, eight kills, a block, 16 assists, five digs and 12 points, Ally Strickland came through with 17 digs and nine points, Naomi Kenny made 10 blocks with one kill and Lauren Tordella had seven blocks, five kills, one ace and six points.

Panama won the jayvee match, 25-10, 25-11.
