Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy To Hold Coloring Contest

The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy will be holding a coloring contest for kids ages 2 to 10. The coloring page features a lake scene with various clean water-dependent animals and encourages kids to be Watershed Defenders. The contest will be judged in three age categories: 2-4, 5-7, and 8-10. Prizes will include a kid’s snow shoe rental from Evergreen Outfitters, a play pass from Bounce A Lot Playland, a fishing pole from Hogan’s Hut, and a special family nature hike with a CWC conservationist. Coloring pages and entry forms are available at chautauquawatershed.org. All entries must be received by CWC by Oct. 31.

The Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy is a local not-for-profit land trust and watershed education organization that is dedicated to preserving and enhancing the water quality, scenic beauty, and ecological health of the lakes, streams, wetlands and watersheds of the Chautauqua region. Over the past 23 years, the organization has itself and in cooperation with the New York State, conserved two miles of Chautauqua Lake and Outlet shoreline and 718 acres of land across Chautauqua County and established 18 nature preserves. It provides watershed education programs and technical assistance to landowners and service providers on landscaping and conservation through its Healthy Landscaping-Healthy Waters Program. Its current coloring contest seeks to teach kids and their families about becoming Watershed Defenders by practicing watershed-friendly behaviors.
