Breakfast Season Begins Sunday
CELORON – The Herman Kent American Legion Post 777 in Celoron is holding its first breakfast for the new season on Sunday. The post will have a full buffet with scrambled eggs, ham, sausage, biscuits and gravy, french toast and danish. Also featured is the 777 three-egg omelet made to order. Breakfast costs $6 a person and is served from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
Set For Sunday
Christ First United Methodist Church, located on the corner of Lakeview Avenue and Buffalo Street, will host a Sunday school fun fair from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Sunday. The public is welcome to attend.
Candidate Picnic Set For Today
The Jamestown City Republican Committee is sponsoring a free Meet The Candidates picnic at Chadakoin Park off Washington Street in Jamestown today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The community is welcome to attend for free hot dogs and soda. Civil War Event Set For Today
MACHIAS – The Cattaraugus County Museum will host a small encampment of Civil War re-enactors today. Represented will be members of the 154th NY, Berdans Sharpshooters, 34th NC, 4th SC, and a Louisiana Tiger. There will be a 154th NY Gettysburg memorial service at 11 a.m. and a “School of the Soldier” for any children in attendance. The museum will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the re-enactors will be on-site all day to display, discuss and demonstrate their equipment, uniforms and arms. The event is free and open to the public. The Cattaraugus County Museum is located in the Stone House, next door to the Pines facility, 9824 Route 16, Machias. For more information, call 353-8200.
Set For Today
SHERMAN – The North Harmony United Methodist Church, 6814 Sherman-Stedman Road, Sherman, will hold a Swiss steak dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. today. The cost is $8 for adults; $3.50 for children. Takeouts will be available.
Special Meeting Set For Tuesday
The South Dayton Fire District will hold a special meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the South Dayton Fire Dept. Apparatus Hall.
To Meet Tuesday
The Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Lakewood Legion. Forty-nine members met recently in the Busti town park for a chicken barbecue catered by Falconer Foods. Connie Whiteman, president, presided. Nancy Miller gave a reading and Eivor Keller led in prayer, a flag salute and song. The treasurer’s and secretary’s reports, presented by Pennie Harvey and Richard Anderson, were approved as read. Thank you cards from Joanne Osman and the Southwestern Senior Class were read. Charlotte Johnson spoke on the need for more knitters and stated a sign-up sheet was available.
Historical Society To Meet Monday
CLYMER – The Clymer Area Historical Society will hold its annual meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Haverkamp Huis, 358 S. Center St., Clymer. The program will feature Alice O’Grady as Eleanor Roosevelt. All are welcome, especially those interested in becoming members.
