Robert Wood

Robert Wood, 77, of Webster Road, Brocton, N.Y., passed away after an extended illness, Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 11, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Erie, Pa., surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born at home in Westfield, N.Y., on March 5, 1936, and was the son of the late Harold C. and Edith (Storm) Wood.

He was employed at Renald-Ajax, retiring from there after 24 years of service. He was also the former owner and operator of Wood’s Atlantic Garage in Westfield, N.Y., for 16 years.

Robert was a 50-year member of National Grape and a 50-year life member of the Westfield Moose. He belonged to the Barcelona Yacht Club, where he was first commodore. He also belonged to The Hilltoppers Snowmobile Club and The 4-Squares,

His radio call number was KLP3304.

Besides enjoying his wife and family, Robert had many hobbies and interests among which were reading, hunting, fishing, line and square dancing, stock car racing, boating and model airplanes.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Travis Wood, whom he married in Brocton, N.Y., on May 28, 1955; four sons: Larry (Dawn Kelsey) Wood of Westfield, N.Y., Thomas (Renee) Wood of Westfield, N.Y., Edward (Jenean Roth) Wood of Portland, N.Y., and Timothy Wood of Brocton, N.Y.; nine grandchildren: Julie (Darrin) Spinuzza, Jason (Shadara) Wood, Victoria Wood, Ashley (Ryan) Wakeley, Thomas Wood II, Lynn Wood, Kevin Wood, Tiffany (Mike McCloskey) Wood and ShyAnne Wood; six step grandchildren: Melinda, Shana, Amber, Jake, Jonnamarie and Jenelle; nine great-grandchildren: Nichole and Jacob Spinuzza, Danion and Kiernan Wood and Joseph Wood Watson, Bryan Wakeley, Brendon and Ryan Wood and Jenna McCloskey. He is also survived by his good friend Rudy Aynardi. Robert was predeceased by one brother, Allen R. Wood.

A private memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at the St. Stephen Hotel, 2 Main St., Brocton, N.Y. David Travis will officiate.

A private Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at a later time.

The family suggests memorials in Robert’s honor be made to the Brocton Fire Department or the Brocton Emergency Squad, Lake Ave., Brocton NY 14716.
