Violet C. Szymanski
SOUTH DAYTON – Violet C. Szymanski, 86, of Cottage Road, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at Buffalo General Hospital.
She was born Feb. 10, 1927, in Gowanda, N.Y., the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Gominiak) Chzanowski.
She is married to Major Szymanski, who survives.
Mrs. Szymanski worked as a nurse’s aide at JN Adam Developmental Center for many years retiring in 1983.
She was a member of St. John Fisher R.C. Church in South Dayton, N.Y. and its Altar and Rosary Society.
She loved flower and vegetable gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking.
Besides her husband she is survived by three sons: William (Deborah) Szymanski of Forestville, N.Y., Robert Szymanski of Ashville, N.Y., and Richard Szymanski of Forestville, N.Y.; a granddaughter, Jennifer; and two great-grandsons: Alexander and Nathan. Also surviving is a sister, Rose Decker, of Springville, N.Y., and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by four brothers: John, Frank, Stanley and George Chzanowski; and four sisters: Laura Gomienek, Josephine Brecht, Helen Willis and her twin sister, Virginia Barlow.
Friends may call on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, from 10-11 a.m. from Mentley Funeral Home Inc. 105 E. Main St. in Gowanda, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Gowanda, N.Y.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of the donor’s choice.
