Abbate Sparks Panama To Victory

PANAMA – Carly Abbate delivered 19 points, eight aces, nine assists and three kills as Panama (1-0, 2-1) swept Maple Grove (0-1, 0-2), 25-14, 25-8, 25-14, in West 2 girls volleyball on Tuesday.

Ally Strickland had 13 points and seven aces; Brittany Lenart eight points, an ace, five kills and four blocks; and Taylor Bowen seven points, three aces, two assists and two kills for Panama.

Nicole Heminger recorded three kills, two aces and a point; Sierra Sperenza nine digs, three kills, an ace and point; Maddy Russo two kills, an ace and a point; and Jazmine Hannold eight assists, two points and two aces in defeat.

Panama also prevailed in the junior varsity match, 25-8, 22-25, 25-13.


MAYVILLE – Jenna Einink had seven kills, four aces, four digs and two assists and Tara Hunt five kills, four digs and seven assists as Chautauqua Lake (1-0, 2-0) defeated Sherman, 25-20, 25-5, 25-14 on Monday.

Katie Meadows recorded seven aces, two digs, six assists and a block, and Ryleigh Hawkins and Heather Sampson delivered two kills, an ace and a dig in the win.

For Sherman, Katrina Christmas had three kills and four blocks, Bridget Yaw two kills and two aces, and Roxanne Toy three kills.

Chautauqua Lake’s jayvees took two of three games from Sherman.
