YWCA Westfield To Offer Tumbling, Tae Kwon Do

The YWCA Westfield is pleased to announce “Try Out Tumbling Classes” will be offered free on Monday, Sept. 23, and again on Sept. 30. Students ages 3-5 are invited to attend class at 5:30 p.m.; students up to age 7 are invited to the 6:30 class. The class is open to both boys and girls.

The classes will then continue each Monday evening at 5:30 or 6:30 p.m. under the direction of Holly Spoon.

Spoon brings a background of dance, cheerleading and Zumba to the class.

The class fee is $25 monthly, payable the first Monday of each month. A current YWCA youth membership is also required. Class size is limited so reservations are requested. Call the YWCA at 326-2011 to reserve a class spot.

Although staff will be on hand to accept payments, parents are welcome to prepay at the main office during business hours.

The YWCA fitness center is open for members during those hours and a lounge waiting area will also be available for parents.

The Tae Kwon Do Classes will continue on Tuesday and Thursday nights at the YWCA. Classes are offered under the direction of long time teacher, Albert Ramirez, for students age 8 through adult. Class begins at 5:30 p.m. for the students up to age 15 with the 16 through adult group meeting at 6:30.

Each group of students will focus on this ancient art of self-defense featuring speed, strength, stamina and flexibility. Tae Kwon Do is an Olympic event and is considered the most popular martial art. It is practiced in over 100 countries by 30 million followers. New students are invited to attend classes for their initial month free. Contact the YWCA Westfield at 326-2011 for more details or visit the classes any Tuesday evening.
