‘Year in Review’ Is Topic Of Audubon Photo Club Meeting
“Last Year in Review” is the topic at the next Jamestown Audubon Nature Photography Club meeting.
On Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6:30 p.m., club member Bill Smith will review all the camera projects, 15-minute tech talks and highlights of the speakers from the previous year of meetings. Succinct notes with tips and web links will be provided.
September starts a new year for the Photo Club and the new year’s schedule will be distributed. Upcoming plans include tech talks on doing a silhouette, all those camera shooting modes and image toning. Camera projects include using bounce light, fill-flash and abstract nature, and speakers will address composition principles, improving your phone shots and restoring old photos.
Bill Smith has been shooting all subjects for many years. Since he was very young, he has been fascinated by nature. He shares his nature, landscape, architectural and rural images at regional art shows/street fairs and occasional exhibits. Most recently, he was the judge for one division of the Jamestown Audubon Nature Photography Contest that had submissions from 25 states and 10 foreign countries.
“Vertical nature shot” and “Rotate a picture 90 degrees” are the topics for the image review that begins after the speaker. Vertical shots are much less common than horizontal, so this topic is to encourage folks to bend those elbows. The rotation project is to get shooters to view their already-taken images more deeply by finding interesting images within images that look fascinating when rotated to the right or left.
The 15-minute tech talk will be a hands-on demonstration of your camera’s auto-exposure bracketing feature.
A social time follows the program.
Visitors are asked to pay $5 that can be applied toward the annual membership of $30 if application is made by the next meeting. Among the benefits of membership are discounts on photography classes, special gifts and giveaways from sponsors, field trips, and the right to show photos at club exhibits.
The Jamestown Audubon Nature Photography Club meets at the Audubon Center & Sanctuary, 1600 Riverside Road, one-quarter mile east of Route 62 between Jamestown and Warren.
