Cummins, Frewsburg CS Capture ‘Battle’ Softball Titles

Last year’s YMCA Battle of the Businesses winners, Cummins (large division) and Frewsburg Central School (small division), finished first in the YMCA’s 26th annual Battle of the Businesses’ softball tournament on Saturday.

Due to the rainy weather, the large division’s top three finishers – Cummins, Jamestown Teachers Association and Southwestern Central School – ended the tournament in first, second, and third place, respectively, by mutual decision.

For the small division, Jamestown Mattress battled for second place while BWB finished in third place.

The Battle of the Businesses continues through Sept. 14. Today’s events are golf at Maplehurst Country Club, starting at 8 a.m., bowling at Jamestown Bowling Company beginning at 1 p.m., and pickleball at the Lakewood YMCA with the large division competing at 1 p.m. and the small division playing at 3 p.m.

Participants are reminded to check schedule times for each event.

The Battle is sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York and Windstream Communications. Additional results and pictures can be viewed at jamestownymca.org.
