JHS Boys Win First Game

OLEAN – Jamestown’s offense and defense performed solidly on Friday as the Red Raiders picked up their first win of the year, posting a 5-1 win over the host team in the opening game of the Olean Soccer Tournament at the Olean Middle School.

The Red Raiders got on the board quickly as Mitch Moore scored an unassisted goal 33 seconds into the game for the 1-0 lead and with 28:56 left, Quinn Lee Yaw added another goal with Moore getting the assist.

Jamestown continued to shine in the second half as Josh Anderson scored at 2:53 with Moore picking up another assist. Eugenio Valazquez followed with another tally at 15:41 as Moore earned his third assist.

Cory Tubbs completed the scoring for Jamestown at 29:41 with an unassisted goal. Nick Bailey finally put Olean on the board late in the game.

Liam Kulakowski earned the victory in goal for the Red Raiders with four saves.

In junior varsity action, Jamestown topped Wellsville, 3-1.



FALCONER – Tobi Culpepper and Steven Kanicki scored goals as Falconer edged Cassadaga Valley, 2-1.

Culpepper scored unassisted and Kanicki on a penalty kick for Falconer.

Kyle Ruge scored for the Cougars at the end of the first half to make it 1-1.

Cassadaga Valley keeper Reece Bly made14 saves.



RANDOLPH – Randolph improved to 3-0 by blanking Westfield, 3-0.

Just 10 minutes into the game, Taryn Dechow scored as Mackenzie Evans assisted. Fifteen minutes later, Evans scored with Dechow assisting to make it 2-0, and Santana France completed the scoring at the 35-minute mark with Shelby Perkins assisting

Tiffani Keyes had one save in the victory while Taylor Kassman had 17 saves for the Lady Wolverines.
