Trojans Pull Out Tie With Cards

RANDOLPH – Randolph held a 1-0 lead going into the final three minutes of its game with Southwestern, but the Trojans (0-0-2) managed to find the net at the 77-minute mark and the result was a 1-1 tie with the Cardinals (1-0-2) in non-league boys soccer on Thursday.

Matthew Born gave Randolph the lead 24 minutes into the game off an assist by Zach English and goalie Nick Carpenter kept the Trojans at bay.

It was Dylan Lundmark who scored the tying goal for Southwestern as Mason Hoose assisted.

Carpenter picked up three saves while handling the net for the Cardinals.

Eric Priester made seven saves for Southwestern.

BEARS EDGE FALCONER

FREWSBURG – Frewsburg’s Derek Smith was the hero for the Bears on Wednesday, coming through with the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Falconer.

Five minutes into the game, the Bears’ Jacob Lyon found the net with Derek Smith getting the assist for the 1-0 lead and things stayed the same until Andrew Bensink scored for the Golden Falcons nine minutes into the second half with Justin Olson assisting.

Frewsburg re-took the lead two minutes later as Jesse Ernewein scored, but three minutes later, Tobi Culpepper tied it up again for Falconer.

Smith then delivered the winning goal for Frewsburg with nine minutes to go in the game.

Jordan Lyon earned the win in goal for the Bears with six saves.
