He was born March 3, 1943, in Jamestown, the son of Raymond Leroy and Anna Larson Dahlin, and formerly lived in Dewittville, N.Y.

George graduated from Falconer High School in 1961 with his GED in 1969. He continued his education with two associates degrees in 1987 and 1990 from Jamestown Community College. He received his four year degree from that State College at Fredonia in 1994. His schooling meant a lot to him and served as an incentive for his children to also further their education.

George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy receiving an honorable discharge in December 1963.

Prior to his retirement, George worked for more than 38 years at Hopes Windows as a draftsman.

Enjoying music, George played a trumpet in Falconer High School marching band, a bugle in a Drum and Bugle Corp, the shofar at Fluvanna Community Church and sang in the church choir. He drove a race car for a season at Stateline, worked for several years driving an ambulance for Jamestown Ambulance Service, and continued to be an avid NASCAR fan. George was a former certified water instructor with the American Red Cross and a former certified EMT with the Fluvanna Fire Department. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association, and enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing with his dad and uncle. He also enjoyed many hours of woodworking on toys for his grandchildren in his workshop.

George was member of the Fluvanna Community Church and served in many areas including deacon, church treasurer, and substitute Sunday school teacher. He also enjoyed the various church groups, most recently the sipping seniors that met weekly.

Surviving are his wife, Connie Lee Dahlin, whom he married Oct. 17, 1964, in Zion Covenant Church, Jamestown; his daughter, Christine (Jeff) Camp of Jamestown; his son, Robert (Julie) Dahlin of Jamestown; eight grandchildren: Ryan Camp, Morgan Dahlin, Marcus Dahlin, Kyle Dahlin, Kenton Dahlin, Eliza Dahlin, Cleopha Dahlin and Strider Dahlin.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Dutchess.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6 p.m. at Fluvanna Community Church. The Rev. Dayle Keefer, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will be held privately at Fluvanna Cemetery.
