Murdock Family’s Crafts-N-Thrift Opens In Sherman
SHERMAN – The Murdock family in Sherman has a new business.
For years, people have been able to enjoy the food, refreshments and atmosphere at Murdock’s on Main Street. Now, people will be able to enjoy crafts, thrift items and sewing expertise from their new business.
Marla Murdock is the owner of Crafts-N-Thrift, 100 E. Main St. The business is in the building the Murdock family owns, which also houses the restaurant and bar run by Marla’s daughter, Katie, and husband, Dale.
“We’ve been in the area forever,” Murdock said. “We love the people. Once they know you then they’re very friendly.”
Murdock opened the new business the beginning of August. People can find many unique items you cannot find in a big-box store. Crafts-N-Thrift has quilts, doll clothes, Christmas ornaments, fabric, electric items and clothing.
“We don’t sell soup, so I can’t say we have everything from soup to nuts. But we do sell soup bowls, so I can say we sell everything from soup bowls to nuts,” she said.
Murdock said this month she will start to have consignment sales at the business. Plus, crafters are welcome to talk to Murdock about selling items in the store, as well. Murdock said one of the main parts of her business is the sewing services available.
“I like to sew, so I’m offering my services to people for hemming, alterations and any sewing project,” she said. “If you give me something you are going to throw out, and I can probably make you something you will like out of it.”
Murdock said she also has weekly deals like 99 cent blue jeans or a back-to-school sale.
The business is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, noon-7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The parking lot for Crafts-N-Thrift can be entered off of Franklin Street in Sherman. For more information, call 338-2310.
