Alice L. Barmore

GERRY – Alice L. Barmore, 83, of Gerry, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at WCA Hospital.

She was born Feb. 17, 1930, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Gerald and Lucy Hayward. A Chautauqua County resident all of her life, she was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School and 1951 graduate of Deaconess School of Nursing.

Alice was employed for 33 years as an registered nurse at the former Jamestown General Hospital and as a office nurse for Dr. Chelecki.

She was a member of the Gerry Grange for more than 50 years, Rodeo City Senior Citizens, Gerry United Methodist Church, Cassadaga Memorial American Legion Post 1280 Auxillary and a charter member of the Rodeo City Travel Club.

Alice enjoyed traveling, especially with Hitching Post Tours, playing cards and spending Sunday with her family.

Wife of 62 years to Ronald E. Barmore, whom she married Oct. 6, 1951; mother of Melody Barmore of Knoxville, Tenn., Ronalee (John) Horan and Wade Barmore. all of Gerry; grandmother of Heather (Dan) Maloney, Lindsey (Bill) Fisk, Shannon (Sean) Eggleston, Ashley (Justin) Clark, Sarah and Jake Bar-more, and Ryan and Sean Horan; great-grandmother of seven; sister of the late Sally Jones and Geraldine Hayward. Also survived by nieces and nephews including her favorite, Rae Jones.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Saturday. Burial in Gerry Hill Cemetery.
