GLBT Conference At Chautauqua Institution
The Rainbow Pride Connection will hold a conference in Bellinger Hall, on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution, for local and regional gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
The conference will be held on Sept. 14. There will be workshops and presentations covering areas of interest for the LGBT community, such as “Sex and Spirituality,” Lesbian Sexual Health” and “Transgender Issues in a Post Marriage Equality New York” as well as other workshops covering issues specific to gay, lesbian and transgender people.
“We have a wonderful line-up this year, a great combination of education, entertainment and fellowship for the regional LGBT community,” says Pat Collins, primary coordinator of the event. “I’m very much looking forward to this wonderful event.”
A wine-and-cheese reception will precede dinner and a keynote address will be given by Dr. Richard McCarty, assistant professor of religious studies at Mercyhurst University and president of the Greater Erie Alliance for Equality. After dinner, the film “Gen Silent” will be shown. This documentary is about how the generation that fought hardest to come out is being forced back into the closet in order to survive in senior housing and assisted living. An additional highlight of the conference will be a performance by the Buffalo Gay Men’s Chorus, for a concert of great musical selections. A reception with the Chorus members will follow (concert tickets at additional cost). Full information regarding the event and registration may be found at rainbowprideconnection.net
