POLICE DEPARTMENT

Sean D. Klein, 25, of Panama was charged at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday with second-degree aggravated harassment and second-degree criminal contempt. Police said Klein made threatening phone calls to a victim who had a court order for him to stay away. A warrant was issued for Klein, who was taken into custody.

CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

MAYVILLE – Edward A. Wood, 43, of Westfield was charged at 1:20 a.m. on Thursday with driving while ability impaired by drugs, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, speeding and failure to dim high beams. Deputies stopped a vehicle on North Erie Street for speeding and failure to dim high beams. Wood was identified as the driver, and deputies observed what appeared to be narcotic packaging material visible in Wood’s wallet. A quantity of a controlled substance was discovered, police said. Following an investigation, deputies found two hypodermic syringes and other drug paraphernalia under the driver’s seat. He was taken into custody and later released to appear in Chautauqua Court at a later date.

SILVER CREEK – An 18-year-old male was charged at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday with second-degree sexual abuse and sexual misconduct. Deputies took the male into custody on a warrant issued by Pomfret Court. The warrant was issued because the male allegedly committed sexual abuse and misconduct crimes. He was arraigned in Pomfret Court and remanded to Chautauqua County Jail. in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, $10,000 property bond.

FRENCH CREEK – Christopher M. John, 32, of Dunn Avenue, Jamestown, was charged at 5:11 p.m. on Wednesday with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, failure to maintain lanes and failure to keep right. Deputies were told that a black vehicle struck a pole and left the scene in French Creek. The vehicle was located and interviewed the driver. John was taken into custody and later released to a sober individual. He will answer the charges at a later date.

POMFRET – Henry J. Fedrick, 23, of First Street, Portland, was charged at 2:57 p.m. on Wednesday with improper passing. Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident with injuries on Route 5. It was learned that Fedrick allegedly attempted to pass two vehicles traveling westbound. Another driver at the time was attempting to turn into a driveway. As the driver made the turn, Fedrick’s vehicle struck them, causing them to end up in the ditch. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Brooks Memorial Hospital for injuries. Fedrick was scheduled to be in court at a later date.

CHARLOTTE – Nicholas R. Puffer, 24, of Nevins Street, Dunkirk, was charged at 12:20 p.m. on Thursday with speed in excesses of 55 mph, reckless operation and operating out of class. Deputies observed a motorcycle traveling northbound on Route 60 at 101 mph in a 55 mph zone. The bike was stopped and the ride was identified as Puffer. A records check showed he did not have a motorcycle license. He was issued tickets to be in Charlotte Court at a later date.

COLD SPRING – Cody E. Riechenbach, 19, of Randolph, was charged on Wednesday with driving while intoxicated. Troopers at Jamestown stopped a vehicle on West Perimeter Road for a vehicle and traffic law violation. Riechenbach was found to be intoxicated, police said. He was processed and released on appearance tickets for Cold Spring Court at a later date.
