Janet M. Seblink
Janet M. Seblink, 92, of Clymer, N.Y., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at Cor-ry Manor Nursing Home, Corry, Pa.
She was born Oct. 3, 1920, in Clymer, N.Y. the daughter of the late Garret “Harry” and Delia Wassink TenHaken.
She graduated from Clymer Central School in 1936, where she was the class valedictorian. She then went on to Deaconess nurses training at Deaconess Hospital, in Buffalo, N.Y., graduating in 1941 and in November of that year, she married Robert W. Seblink. After a brief stay in Buffalo the couple returned to Clymer, where they owned and operated the family dairy farm for several decades.
Janet worked a brief time for Dr. Williams in Clymer. Years later she established Seblinks Floral Acres, which she operated for many years. Janet loved flowers and throughout her career blessed many people with her ability. She loved her cats, flower and vegetable gardens, and was an avid reader of the Bible and Mary Higgins Clark mys-tery novels.
Janet was blessed with the gift of hospitality, spearheading many large family functions throughout the years. Her cookie baking prowess was especially appreciated by friends and neighbors at Christmas when the coveted gold box of cookies was delivered to their doorstep.
Janet was a lifelong member of the Clymer Hill Reformed Church, where she was pianist, Sunday school teacher, member of the Women’s Guild and the provider of flowers for Sunday morning services. She also decorated the church for the holidays and other special occasions. Janet was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by children: Jeffrey (Patrick) Seblink, Patricia (Michael) Carpenter, and Dr. Gregory (Marlys) Seblink; grand-daughter, Lyndsay Car-penter; nieces and nephews; several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 50 years Robert W. Seblink, who died on Oct. 1, 1993; and brothers: James and Harold TenHak-en.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday Sept. 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Clymer Hill Reformed Church, with the Rev. Michael Beckerink, pastor of the church, officiating.
