JHS Soccer Scrimmage Set
The JHS Girls Soccer Team will hold a Friday Night Lights Red vs. White scrimmage combining the JV and varsity squads at the Martin Road Complex on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The JHS Red Raiders Girls Soccer Boosters are sponsoring the event. A $1 per person donation is asked by all who attend with all money raised benefiting the boosters to help support the team. The event will also include a 50/50 raffle and a halftime goalie shootout where anyone can take a shot on goal versus one of the three JHS goalies. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
‘The Natural’ Event Set For Sept. 7
SOUTH DAYTON – The 30th Anniversary of “The Natural” celebration will be held at the South Dayton Village Park on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Sunday, Sept. 8, from noon to 5 p.m. The celebration will feature train rides, amusement rides, a model train display, antique cars, games, food, crafts, music, movie, a baseball game and more. On Saturday, Slim Griffin Band will play from 3-5 p.m., and there will be a spaghetti dinner at the fire hall from 4:30-6:30 p.m. On Sunday, a beef on weck lunch in the park will take place from noon to 2 p.m., and Mountain Railroad Band will play from 1-3 p.m. For more information, call 988-5975.
Rod And Gun Club To Meet
The Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5. The auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9. Nancy Rasmussen and Marcia Johnson will be the greeters; Jan Pintagro and Jan DeVoe, helpers. Sally Hagg and Marilyn Alexander will provide refreshments. Blue Grass Hoedown will present the program.
To Hold Forum
Steve E. McCord, director of Cattaraugus County Veterans Services, or Kevin P. Haynes, accredited service officer, will be available to discuss VA benefit laws, the VA healthcare system or answer any questions Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Randolph American Legion. McCord is available at the Little Valley County Office building on Thursday afternoons from 1-3:30 p.m., with the exception of Sept. 19.
Historical Society Plans Quilt Event
LEON – The Leon Historical Society is featuring Willow Creek Quilter and Amish Quilts & Goods (Quilt Bee) in the heart of Amish Country on Saturday, Sept. 14. The society is looking for crafters and anyone who would like to sell their products at the four corners on Route 62 in Leon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day.
