JHS Soccer Scrimmage Set
The Jamestown High School girls soccer team will hold a “Friday Night Lights” Red vs. White scrimmage combining the JV and varsity squads at the Martin Road Complex on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The JHS Red Raiders Girls Soccer Boosters are sponsoring the event. A $1 donation is asked by all who attend with all money raised benefiting the JHS Girls Soccer Boosters to help support the team. The event will also include a 50/50 giveaway and a halftime goalie shootout where anyone can take a shot on goal versus one of the three JHS goalies. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
Celoron Board To Meet Thursday
CELORON – The Board of Trustees for the village of Celoron will be holding a special meeting on Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Celoron Community Center, 47 Dunham Ave., Celoron, to discuss a recommendation from the village Planning Board, set a public hearing date on Local Law No. 3 and conduct miscellaneous village business.
Library To Hold Open House
ELLINGTON – The Farman Free Library Board will host an open house on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the library to welcome the new library director, Arissa Hitchcock. A dedication of the restored Ellington Town Picnic sign will also be held in memory of long term trustee, Laurene S. Rice. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Board Of Health To Meet Sept. 4
The next meeting of the Cattaraugus County Board of Health has been scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 4, at noon. The meeting will be held at the St. Bonaventure Clubhouse Restaurant, Route 417, Allegany.
Salamanca BPU To Meet Tuesday
SALAMANCA – A special meeting of the city of Salamanca Board of Public Utilities will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the court room of the city municipal building.
AARP Board To Meet Thursday
The Jamestown AARP board will meet Thursday, Sept. 5, in the parlors of First Lutheran Church, beginning at 10 a.m. The general meeting, at the same location, will be on Tuesday, Sept. 10, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Pianist Lucy Miller will present an inspirational program of music and the spoken word. There will be a business meeting and a book exchange. Refreshments will follow. All area seniors, age 50 and over, are welcome.
Music Showcase Set For Sept. 7
The 10th annual Local Music Showcase is set to take place on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 6 p.m. until 2 a.m. at 10 participating venues in downtown Jamestown. Once again, all proceeds will benefit Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Inc. A total of 43 different acts will be participating in this year’s LMS at 10 downtown venues. Participating venues include: Mojos, Shawbucks, Cibo, The Pub, Labyrinth Press Company, Forte, The Wine Cellar, The Reg Studio Theater, Jamestown Skate Products and Infinity Arts Cafe. Pre-sale event tickets can be purchased at Infinity Visual and Performing Arts Center at 115 Third St. and exchanged for wristbands the evening of the event. Wristbands can also be purchased the day of the event at participating venues. Tickets are $10 and provide all access to all 10 downtown venues.
