Driving Course Being Offered

BROCTON – The Ahira Hall Memorial Library, 37 W. Main St., Brocton, will sponsor a defensive driving class from 9 a.m. to noon on Sept. 30 and Oct. 2. The cost is $17 for AARP members and $19 for non-members, payable by check only to AARP. Class size is limited and reservations are required. To register, call 792-9418. The class is available to any licensed driver. Participants will receive an insurance reduction and possible point reduction.

Movie Night Set For Saturday

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga Community Church, 25 Maple Ave., Cassadaga, will be hold a free community dinner/movie night at 5 p.m. Saturday. The movie is ”Parental Guidance” starring Billy Crystal.

Fundraiser Set For Labor Day

BEMUS POINT – The Hotel Lenhart is hosting the Honduras Promise Children Mission’s annual fundraising event Labor Day from 11 a.m. to 5 pm.. Five area musical acts/groups will perform throughout the afternoon, along with raffles, refreshments and teams rocking on the porch. All are welcome.

Pine Valley To Meet Sept. 5

SOUTH DAYTON – The Pine Valley Central School Board of Education’s regular meeting scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5 will begin at 6 p.m. in the Board Conference Room (Room No. 5) at the elementary school. The public is invited to attend.

Bible Study Begins Sept. 3

“The Patriarchs,” a women’s Bible study, will be held in the Levant Wesleyan Church, Route 394 between Falconer and Kennedy. The study will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 9:30 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. The cost of this 10-week DVD led class, with workbook, is $15 and reservations are required. Lot Owners To Meet Sept. 9

SINCLAIRVILLE – The annual lot owners’ meeting of Sinclairville Evergreen Cemetery will be held Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Sinclairville Fire Hall. Terms for two trustees are open. Proxy forms are available from any current Board Member or by calling Betty J. Ridout at 962-2309.

Ellery Seniors To Meet Sept. 13

Gene and Lois Norris will be the committee when Ellery Senior Citizens meet at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 13 in St. Timothy Lutheran Church. Twenty-four members attended a recent meeting. Marty Hunt and Avis West were the committee. Gene Norris gave table grace and devotions. Miriam Price led the flag salute. Sandy Harle, of Hospital Palliative Care, presented a program on the help given to those with serious diseases and health problems. Betty Lou Cheney closed the meeting with prayer.

Crafters Sought For History Fair

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Valley Historical Society is looking for crafters to participate in this year’s Sinclairville History Fair to be held on Saturday Sept. 14. The cost of a 10-by-10 space in the park is only $10 if paid by Sept. 1. Crafters are encouraged to act early before all spaces are sold out.
