JPD Warns Of Imposters Looking To Gain Access To Homes

The Jamestown Police are cautioning area residents after receiving multiple complaints about suspicious subjects posing as representatives for utility companies.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, the police had received three complaints from city residents about one or two black males and one white male posing as representatives for phone, television or Internet services such as Windstream and DirecTV working in and around their homes. The vehicle descriptions have varied between a dark green or black van and a dark-colored truck. It is possible the subjects may be claiming to be representing other companies as well.

Jamestown Police have had no reports of these subjects being successful in gaining entry into a residence however the JPD is cautioning all residents to be observant as it is likely these persons are attempting to gain entry to commit crimes.

Windstream representatives have informed the JPD that none of the reported incidents involved any of their employees or representatives. It is rare that such companies would respond for a problem unsolicited by the customer.

If encountered by such a situation, please call the appropriate law enforcement agency as soon as possible.
