DAR?To Hold?Antique Appraisal Day Sept. 8

The Jamestown Chapter of Daughters of The American Revolution will hold a special antique appraisal day at the chapter house at 70 Prospect St. on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 1-4 p.m. Four area antique dealers, including a local estate sale conductor, will be on hand to provide appraisals on antiques and collectibles.

There will be table of antiques for sale, and finger foods and beverages will be offered. For those who wish, tours of the DAR chapter house will be provided. Admission and appraisal of one item will be $5, and all money from this event will be used to pay for the DAR house insulation project. Additional item appraisers will be offered at an additional cost.

Each antique specialist and the estate sale appraiser will be able to research items on the Internet, or use reference materials to find current values, as well as provide a price of the item if one decides to sell it locally.

The antique specialists all have been individually involved in collecting antiques for 40 or more years.

The appraisers are knowledgeable about antique and collectible glass, 19th century bottles and jars, small advertising, lamps, furniture, paper ephemera, toys, military items, political buttons, musical instruments, fishing equipment, tools, books, art nouveau, arts and crafts items, and deco items. The appraisers will be using the latest computer technology of items brought in for an appraisal. Large items may be presented for an appraisal using a good photograph. Arrangements may be made at the chapter house for one of the appraisers to visit one’s home for multiple item appraisals.
