Carl L. Fransen

GERRY – Carl L. Fransen, 35, of Gerry, died Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born July 4, 1978, in Jamestown, the son of Craig Fransen of Gerry, and Beverly Berg (Fred) Bunce of Jamestown.

A Chautauqua County resident most of his life, Carl was a 1996 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.

He was self-employed, owning Fransen Fire Equipment Sales of Gerry, and was previously employed as a driver for Ostrom Enterprises of Jamestown.

Carl was a member and for the past 10 years served as chief of the Gerry Volunteer Fire Department.

He enjoyed fishing, especially on Lake Ontario, and hunting.

He was the loving husband of Heather Roberts Fransen, whom he married Jan. 26, 2013; father of Bryanna and Kohl Fransen, both of Gerry; stepfather of Preston Lugo of Orlando, Fla.; brother of Eric (Jennifer) Fransen of Panama; stepbrother of Robin (Steve) Stanko of Sugar Grove, Pa.; grandson of Lester Berg of Randolph. Also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A fireman’s service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday (firemen please assemble at 6:30) at the Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation for friends and family 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Gerry Free Methodist Church, 4500 Church St., Gerry. Burial in Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown.
