Veterans Service Agency Director Applications Accepted Through Sept. 3
MAYVILLE – Chautauqua County Executive Greg Edwards announced today that a bipartisan committee has been established to review qualified applications for the Veterans Services Agency director position.
Serving on the four-member committee are: Keith Ahlstrom, county legislator (D-Dunkirk) and chief of the City of Dunkirk Fire Department; Vince Horrigan, county legislator (R-Bemus Point) and Colonel in the U.S. Air Force; Troy Smith, New York State Veteran counselor and Sergeant 1st Class in the U.S. Army; and William Tucker, executive director of the American Red Cross of Southwestern New York and Lieutenant Colonel of the U.S. Marine Corps.
“This really is one of the best groups I have ever assembled to help me with the director hiring process,” said Edwards. “Each of these individuals has shown their commitment to our country and our county and I hope the credentials and accomplishments of these individuals will attract even better candidates for the job as applicants will know that quality people with a proven history of service will be reviewing their applications.”
The committee will review all applications for the Veterans Service Agency director position and will create a short list of the most qualified candidates to be referred to the county executive. The county executive will then interview each recommended candidate and select the top applicant to be hired for this position.
The Veterans Service Agency director position became available when former director Doug Diers resigned from his position to pursue other opportunities.
Applications for the director position are being accepted through Sept. 3. Interested candidates should complete a Chautauqua County Application for Examination or Employment, which is available on the Human Resources webpage at www.co.chautauqua.ny.us.
Completed applications should be returned to: Chautauqua County Department of Human Resources, Gerace Office Building, 3 N. Erie St., Room 144, Mayville, NY 14757.
