Shirley Davis

MAYVILLE – Shirley Davis, 85, of 4445 West Lake Road, Mayville, and Port Charlotte, Fla., died Tuesday (Aug. 13, 2013), at Heritage Green Rehab and Skilled Nursing in Greenhurst, NY.

She was born Feb. 4, 1928, in the Bronx of New York City, N.Y., the daughter of the late Max and Rose Ornstein Gelles.

Shirley had been a nurse, a night club singer and an artist.

She enjoyed traveling, bird watching and water paintings.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Mike) O’Brien of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Steve (Julie) Davis of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren: Ben Davis of Nashville, Tenn., Kari Fisher and Aaron Fisher, both of Columbus, Ohio; four great-grandchildren: Mike, Lindsey, Jacob and Crew Fisher of Columbus, Ohio; and her companion of 37 years, Dan Hoyt of Mayville and Port Charlotte, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Davis.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery.
