Landfill Forums

To Resume In Fall

The Chautauqua County Landfill public forums will resume next month. The forums will be open to the public and will include George Spanos, director of public facilities. The date and time for the meetings will be announced once a firm schedule can be arranged.

Town Hall Office To Close Thursday

STOW – The offices of the town of North Harmony will be closed on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. They will be open for court from 5-7 p.m.

JPS Board Seat

Now Available

The Jamestown Public School’s Board of Education is accepting letters of interest for the open board seat due to Timothy Thomas’ resignation. The candidate will fill the open seat until the end of Thomas’ term on June 30, 2014. If the candidate is interested in continuing to serve on the Board of Education, he or she will need to participate in the May 2014 Board of Education Election to run for a three-year term. Candidates must reside within the Jamestown City School District boundaries. Interested candidates can email, mail, fax or drop off a letter of interest, which should include a resume and bio, by the end of the business day on Sept. 3 to: Sue Caronia, District Clerk,197 Martin Road, Jamestown, NY 14701. Falconer Streets To Be Paved

FALCONER – The village of Falconer will be milling and repaving Davis Street from West Main Street to Coleson Drive and West Everett Street from Davis Street to South Work Street, beginning Monday. Both streets will be closed to traffic until the job is completed. Residents are urged to have their vehicles out of their driveways by 7 a.m. For more information or questions, call the Falconer Public Works Department, at 665-3000.

Speed Reading Event Planned

ELLINGTON – The Farman Free Library of Ellington will host a Teen Speed Book Review from 5:30-8 p.m. Monday. Teens are encouraged to choose from a variety of new titles and read for 15 minutes per round. They will be given time to discuss the book, characters and plot and if they would recommend the book. Refreshments will be served. Registration is requested by Saturday.

Seniors To Meet For Picnic Lunch

Mayville Senior Citizens will meet for a picnic lunch in the Veterans of Foreign Wars post on Thursday. John Sipos, Cassadaga village historian, will speak on the history of the old County Home in Dewittville. Joyce Ayers welcomed 43 members to a recent meeting. Louise Richir, Dolly Gilbert and Donna Jenks were the committee. Sandra Anderson called table numbers and reminded seniors attending that reservations were currently being accepted for the Oct. 7 to the Ohio Amish Country.

Driving Course Begins Monday

FREWSBURG – A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday and Tuesday, from 6-8:30 p.m. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Concert Series Ends Thursday

BROCTON – The Ahria Hall Memorial Library will end the Summer Concert in the Park series at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Featured will be the band Kokomo. For more information, call 792-9418.
