Jamestown Man Charged With Robbery, Assault In Overnight Fight

A Jamestown man was committed to jail without bail on robbery and assault charges following an alleged fight Monday night in the city.

Police responded at 11:28 p.m. for a report of a fight in the area of 75 Prospect St. Upon arrival officers observed two men walking quickly away from the area.

According to a police report, the men were observed throwing property to the ground. The suspects were identified as Jackson K. Knappenberger, 19, and a 15-year-old male.

A male victim was later found on Prospect Street with facial injuries, police said.

Following an investigation, police alleged the two men pushed the victim to the ground and struck him before taking his gym shoes and items from his pockets.

Jackson was taken into custody and transported to Jamestown City Jail on Monday. He was charged with felony second-degree robbery, felony second-degree assault, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and endangering the welfare of a child.

Jackson was arraigned Tuesday in Jamestown City Court and committed to Chautauqua County Jail without bail. He is due back in city court Friday, a court clerk said.

The 15-year-old juvenile was being investigated further.
