Frewsburg Proposes Renovation Project, Combined Sports Program With Pine Valley
FREWSBURG-The Frewsburg Central School district is considering making renovations to its middle/high school building.
Prior to the Frewsburg Board of Education’s Thursday meeting, a tour of the proposed middle/high school renovation project was given. According to Danielle O’Connor, Frewsburg superintendent, no decisions have been made as of yet, but a number of renovations have been proposed.
O’Connor said the areas of consideration are: the auditorium; the computer rooms on the building’s second floor, including the heating system; and the bleachers and press box by the football field and track, which would be replaced and updated. She also said a second phase to the project is being considered for renovations to the district’s bus garage.
The district’s current capital project at Robert H. Jackson Elementary School is in the closing stages of its first phase, which included a roof replacement and the addition of a drop-off loop in the school’s parking lot. O’Connor said this phase will be finished in approximately two weeks, before the start of the school year. A second phase is planned for next summer, which includes interior work.
During the board meeting, the board approved the district’s 2013-14 tax warrant, and authorized a 7 percent decrease in the tax collector stipend for the 2013-14 and 2014-15 school years due to the shorter collection timeframe for each year.
A request from the Pine Valley Central School district to combine boys’ swimming for the 2013-14 school year was also approved, and the calculation of class rank policy was also approved following its second reading.
According to the meeting minutes, the board will also be asked to authorize the purchase of two new school buses at a total of $171,587.20 via a lease-purchase agreement or ban with M&T Bank.
