Photo Contest Accepting Entries
The Chautauqua Works, Chautauqua Advancement Project, is hosting a photo contest for the Greater Jamestown area. The grand-prize winner will receive an iPad mini, second place will receive a GoPro digital camera and third place will receive a flat-screen television. Send your photos to ChautauquaWorks@gmail.com or drop off submissions that represent the region’s best attributes to 23 E. Third St. The top 10 submissions will be voted on by the community at Thunder In The Streets on Aug. 16.
The North Harmony United Methodist Church will hold a Swiss steak dinner and bake sale on Saturday. Meals will be served from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The cost will be $8 for adults and $3.50 for children. Take-outs will be available. Proceeds will be used for church needs and mission outreach programs. The church is located on the Sherman-Stedman Road near the Woodcrest Golf Course.
Schall To Perform On Sunday

4 His Praise To Perform Sunday
Hillcrest Baptist Church’s gospel quartet 4 His Praise will present a concert on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the church. The program will include music by well-known composers Mosie Lister, Squire Parsons and John W. Peterson along with a “Salute to America” patriotic medley. Legion To Hold Annual Picnic
FREWSBURG – The Samuel L. Derby Post 556 American Legion will be having its annual Legion family picnic on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. All-American BBQ will serve chicken dinners for $9 each. Games, bingo, bounce house and more will be available. All members and guests welcome.
Bible School Begins Sunday
FREWSBURG – Zion Lutheran Church, 45 Falconer St., Frewsburg, will hold ”Son Rock Kids Camp,” a vacation Bible school from 6-8 p.m. Sunday through Thursday for children, pre-kindergarten through the sixth grade. Wins At Fair
Ross Grange placed first with their display booth “Grandma’s Home Remedies” at the Chautauqua County Fair. Ross members will join others at the County Grange Picnic at the Carris Farm in Ripley on Sunday. A dish to pass lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair, table service and items for an auction. The annual Ross Grange picnic will be Monday. To enjoy a ride on the Bemus Point/Stow Ferry members and friends should meet at the pavilion on the Stow side of the lake. Following a presentation by John Cheney, a volunteer of the Chautauqua Lake Historic Vessels group, at 3 p.m., and ride on the ferry, they will have a picnic supper. Those attending should bring a dish to share and table service. Beverages will be provided.
