Ellicott Swears In Returning Councilman
ELLICOTT – Robert Pickett Jr. once represented the citizens of the 4th Ward on the Ellicott Town Council.
Following Monday’s Town Council meeting, he will now represent the citizens of the 3rd Ward.
Pickett was sworn in as the new representative following the resignation of Timothy Wright. Wright was appointed to the position in January following the resignation of Lucian Lodestro in November 2012. Lodestro resigned because he moved out of the ward. He had served on the board for 15 years.
Wright, who worked for 25 years for the Jamestown Police Department and is the chief for the town of Carroll Police Department, thanked the board members for the opportunity to serve.
”I’ve enjoyed it,” Wright said about his time on the board. ”It has been a good experience.”
Cecil Miller III, Ellicott Town supervisor, said Wright was resigning because he had to focus his attention on more pending matters.
”There are other issues he has to give his full-time to,” Miller said during the meeting.
Pickett said he enjoyed his time on the board previously and looks forward to representing the residents of the 3rd Ward. Pickett had previously served on the board from 2004-07. He resigned in 2007 because he moved from the 4th Ward to the 3rd Ward.
