Margaret F. Reeves
COLLINS, N.Y. – Margaret F. Reeves, 85, of Collins, N.Y., passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Brooks Hospital In Dunkirk, N.Y.
She was born Aug. 27, 1927, in Keating Summit, Pa., the daughter of the late Arthur P. and Eva (Luce) Freeman.
On Aug. 9, 1946, she married Lloyd J. Reeves, who predeceased her on May 19, 2011.
Mrs. Reeves had worked at Gowanda Central School for more than 20 years as a teacher’s aid, attendance clerk and then as an administrative secretary.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Church in Gowanda, and was a member of the Gowanda American Legion Post 409 Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. She also volunteered at the Gowanda Food Pantry and Rural Transit.
Mrs. Reeves is survived by a son, David (Jacquelyn) Reeves of Collins, N.Y.; two daughters: Nancy (David) Steves of Collins, N.Y., and Barbara (Daniel) Stitzel of Dunlap, Ill.; six grand-children: Benjamin (Samantha) and Peter (Phylicia Hanson) Stitzel, Jordon, Trevor (Kimberly Fitzgerald), Adam and Emily Steves; one great-grandchild: Isaac Stitzel; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Howard Freeman; and two sisters: Helen Atkins and Marion Tome.
Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 105 E. Main St., in Gowanda, N.Y., on Wednesday Aug. 7, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. and on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, from 10-11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. Burial will be in Steamburg Cemetery.
