Professional Painting Completes City Slo-Pitch League ‘Hat Trick’

Professional Finishing completed the ”hat trick” on Sunday afternoon in the City Slo-Pitch Softball League.

It became the first team to win the league title, the Mid-Season Tournament title and the playoff title in the same year while also belting 30 homers in four games.

Overall, Professional Finishing had a 32-3 record and the playoff crown was the second in three years.

Professional Finishing plays in the Mark Garrett Slo-Pitch Tournament this weekend and on Aug. 24 wil participate in the Westfield Slo-Pitch Tournament.

Professional Finishing capped a 4-0 playoff season by recording a 21-8 win over the Jock Shop in the championship game..

Chris Patric led the way with four hits with a home run while Tom Lombardo, Jason Youngberg, Mike Smith and Jake Berg all had three hits and homered with Tom Lombardo’s a grand slam.

Jon Youngberg also had one of six homers hit by the champions.

For Jock Shop, Ryan Cunningham clubbed a home run among his three hits and Angelo Rivera also delivered three hits.

In the semifinals, Professional Finishing had a more difficult time with Jock Shop before prevailing, 16-12.

Sam Marra recorded three hits with a homer, Jon Youngberg socked two homers while Tom Lombardo, Jason Youngberg, Tim Gunnell and Phil Lombardo had one each for PF.

Cunningham smashed two homers among his three hits for Jock Shop while Lucian DiNapoli added three hits and Derrick Harper and Cody Nelson two hits.

Harper had a homer and Nelson delivered two doubles in a losing cause.

Professional Finishing began the event by drubbing JW Realty, 30-1. with Mike Smith swatting four hits with two homers.

Jason Rupczyk and Phil Lombardo split eight hits with Lombardo connecting for two doubles and Rupczyk a homer in the win.

Marra, Berg and Joe Lombardo produced three hits with Marra having two homers and Lombardo and Berg one each. Teammate Tim Gunnell unloaded two more homers.

Billy Torres stroked two hits in the loss.

Next it was a 21-4 decision for Professional Finishing over the Southside Redemption.

Joe Lombardo paced the winners with four hits with a homer while Jason Youngberg and Smith cracked three hits with two of Youngberg’s being homers.

Berg pounded two homers, Jon Youngberg, Phil Lombardo and Marra one for PF.

Kyle Jenkins and Nick Martinelli homered for Southside.
