Food Truck To Be At Ashville UMC

ASHVILLE – The Western NY Food Express Truck out of Buffalo will be at the Ashville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, from noon-1:30 p.m. and reopening 3:30-5 p.m. The truck brings mostly fresh produce and some stable items. JHS Class Of ’46 Holds Reunion

Jamestown High School class of 1946 held its 67th reunion in Alfies with 47 alumni and guests attending from South Carolina, Arizona, Florida, Ohio and the Jamestown area. Afghans, made by Audrey Johnson Larson, were given away as prizes, including one to Harry Olson for having the most great-grandchildren. Historical Society Program Set

BROCTON – The Chautauqua County Historical Society will host a program on Prisoner of War camps located within the county during World War II. Dunkirk High School Teacher Ryan Corbett will deliver the presentation at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the J.W. Dill Post 434 of the American Legion in Brocton. Corbett will focus on the POW camps in the area, including providing details of why they were here and the daily life of a German or Italian prisoner. In addition, Corbett will also show a video documentary he and his students produced, featuring interviews and first-hand accounts of local residents who were alive at the time the POW camps were in operation. Bible School To Begin Friday

SOUTH DAYTON – The Cherry Creek and South Dayton United Methodist Churches will host a vacation Bible school Friday through Sunday in the South Dayton Church, 328 Pine St. A family movie, “The Ballad of Little Joe,” music and snacks will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday; crafts, lunch and music from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday; music and a family picnic from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Sunday. Marching Band Fundraiser Set

FALCONER – The Falconer Marching Band Boosters will be holding a no-price rummage sale on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Falconer American Legion. There will be household items, clothing and lots of back-to-school items available to purchase for a donation to the marching band. Hot dogs, drinks and snacks will be available for purchase as well. Across the street at Ellizon Bronze the marching band will also be having a car wash. All the proceeds will be utilized for the upcoming competition season. Rain date for the combined fundraiser is Saturday, Aug. 17.
