Thelma E. Smith
CHARLOTTE – Thelma E. Smith, 80, longtime resident of Charlotte Center, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at Tangle-wood Manor Memory Garden.
She was born Dec. 7, 1932, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Everett and Marion Wilbur Edson.
A Chautauqua County resident all of her life, she was a 1950 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.
Thelma was employed for more than 15 years at Heritage Village in dietary services and from 1989 until her retirement in 2010 at the Goodell and Dibert Homes, as a cook and house supervisor, and enjoyed going the extra mile for her residents.
She was a member of the Charlotte Center United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the Sinclairville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She loved cooking and flower gardening, but first and foremost her family and granddaughters were the center of her life.
Wife of 53 years to the late Harold A. Smith, whom she married July 14, 1956, and who died Nov. 25, 2009; mother of Keith A. Smith of Charlotte Center and Rhonda (Oliver) Berman of Allegany; grand-mother of Katie M. and Chelsie R. Smith; and sister of Cynthia (Roy) Porter of Coupeville, Wash., and the late Grant Edson. Also survived by nieces and nephews; and was the wife of John Guichard Sr.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Visitation 5-8 p.m. Monday. Burial in Charlotte Center Cemetery.
