School Supplies Being Accepted

New Covenant Assembly Church, 17 Arlington Ave., Jamestown, is collecting school supplies which will be distributed to area youth Sunday, Aug. 18, in the church. Items needed include backpacks, pens, pencils, erasers, glue sticks, notebook paper, binders, tissues and other school related items. These items can be dropped off at the church each Sunday at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. or to arrange a pickup, call the church at 665-4688. Youth must be signed up ahead of time to receive the school items and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on a first come, first serve basis. Annual Reunion Set For Saturday

STOCKTON – Descendants of Thomas Waite will gather for the annual family reunion on Saturday in the Chautauqua County Fireman’s Grounds, Stockton. Those persons attending should take a dish to pass, table service and $5 to cover the cost of the pavilion and postage. Lemonade and coffee will be provided. Children’s games will be played.

Puppet Theater Set For Saturday

BUSTI – The Hazeltine Public Library will host the Omnipresent Puppet Theater on Saturday at 10 a.m., at the Busti Fire Department Gazebo. A puppet mystery will be presented, entitled “Gumshoe McMonocle and the Strange Case of Rumpelsomething.” This entertaining puppet show is based on the story of Rumpelstiltskin If it rains, the puppet show will be held at the Busti Federated Church, across the street from the gazebo. Rummage Sale Set For Saturday

Bethel Lutheran Church, 904 West Third St., Jamestown, will be holding a church rummage sale Saturday to coincide with the Cook Avenue and Wild West Side Street sales on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Many new and brand name items will be for sale.

’58 To Gather

The Jamestown High School class of 1958 will celebrate their 55th reunion with a three-day event to be held Aug. 30 through Sept. 1. The event will begin Friday evening with an informal gathering at 6 p.m. at the Greek Club, catered by Mariner’s Pier Express. The dinner dance will be held Saturday evening from 6-11 p.m. at the Moon Brook Country Club. A farewell brunch, prepared by Chef Bill Miley, will conclude the event at the Jamestown Elks Club at 11 a.m. Sunday.
