Mountain Railroad To Perform In Cherry Creek
CHERRY CREEK – The Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series will continue Thursday evening with the music of Maurice Brown and the Mountain Railroad.
The concert will held in the gazebo of the Memorial Park on Main Street, behind the Town Hall, and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Those planning to attend are reminded to bring their own lawn chairs for seating. Supper-type refreshments will be available.
The concert will take place, rain or shine, and in case of inclement weather, will be held at the Pine Valley VFW, Route 83 in Cherry Creek.
In keeping with this year’s theme of “Easel Yourself Into Music,” a session of “Art In The Park” for adults will be held during the concert program. Materials will be supplied for adults in attendance to paint a 1-foot square block, in a two-color pattern, suitable for hanging on their dwelling, garage or barn. Participants will be able to choose the colors for their project, which is completely without charge, courtesy of the Cherry Creek Community Association, Inc.
The Mountain Railroad Band has been performing in the Jamestown-Ellington area since the 1970s.
They play a variety of music that includes traditional country, folk, bluegrass and gospel. They are well known for their performances at the former Mountain Depot, where they performed each Sunday afternoon until October 2005.
They perform now at various church functions, nursing homes and outdoor concerts.
The 2013 Cherry Creek Summer Gazebo Concert Series is sponsored by the Cherry Creek Community Association Inc., and funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Regrant Program supported by Gov. Andrew Cuomo and administered by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council, area businesses, the town and village of Cherry Creek, and community members.
