Senior Tour Makes Stop At SHCC

BUSTI – The McDonald’s Senior Golf Tour traveled to South Hills Country Club on Monday and Phil Holland was the winner of Flight A with a plus 6, using the modified Stableford scoring system.

Dave Allen and Ed Westerling followed with plus 5s and Denny Ayers took low gross honors with 75.

Ken Aldrich and Jim Watt both fired a plus 7 to lead Flight B while Dan Kelly was next with a plus 6 and Aldrich and Randy Chamberlin both carded 82s to tie for the low gross.

In Flight C, Ted Valone was the winner with plus 15, Bill Davenport and Ray Cenni each had plus 12s and Davenport and Jim Mason tied for the low gross with 81s.

Dene Lindquist and Jim Wahlberg shared first place with plus 14s in Flight D while Dave Snyder produced a plus 11. Lindquist also fired an 82 to lead the low gross scores.

Red Johnson took first in Flight E, Herb Hern was second with plus 10 and Harold Eckwahl finished third at plus 9. Dave Nichols was the low gross leader with 93.

In Flight F, Tom Gooch led the way with plus 11, Don Garfield was second with plus 9, Tom Harte was third with plus 7 and Gooch’s 101 earned him low gross honors.

Closest-to-the-pin honors went to Valone on No. 4, Pat Hepinger on No. 9, Bill Saulsgiver on No. 13 and George Leopold on No. 15.

Venango Valley Country Club will host the McDonald’s Senior Golf Tour next Monday, beginning at 9 a.m.
