Vincent E. Sheldon

Vincent E. Sheldon, 85, formerly of the Frewsburg Rest Home, passed away Saturday (July 27, 2013) in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center surrounded by his family.

He was born April 24, 1928, in the Town of Persia, Cattaraugus County, the son of the late Gleason and Mildred Morrison Sheldon.

Vincent was a graduate of Frewsburg High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict in Germany. Prior to retirement he was employed by Hope’s Windows for 35 years.

Vincent enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed music having played guitar and sang with his father-in-law at various restaurants and bars.

Surviving are four children: Paulette A. (John) Crawford of Jamestown, Vincent Sheldon II of Columbus, Ohio, Arlene (Jeffrey) Daniels of Sinclairville, Jonathan Sheldon of Jamestown; six grandchildren: Tamara (Tim) O’Dell of Rouseville, Pa., Brett (Jennifer) Centi of Jamestown, Taryn (Mike) Robertson of Hamburg, N.Y., Daniel (Jessica) Sheldon, Christopher (Cori) Sheldon all of Canyon Country, Calif., Corrie (Shane) Bednez of Warren, Pa.; two step grandchildren: Christine Gomez of Bluffton, S.C., Kim Daniels of Florida; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson Sean Sheldon; two brothers: Gleason Shel-don Jr., Lester Sheldon; five sisters: Hazel Opferbeck, Helen Morris, Bessie Kane, Shirley Snyder and Barbara Caswell.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Sam Shreffler chaplain of Heritage Village will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Falconer.

Friends will be received by the family from 7-9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral service Tues-day.
